  And for most of us it’s a lot easier to work smarter, to look for short cuts and quick fixes, to try and hack our way to success so we follow that path instead of the harder one.

 And in one way there is nothing wrong with that – a smart man SHOULD be looking for exactly how he can do more with the precious little time he was given on this amazing planet.  BUT THERES A CATCH.

 Most of us aren’t working smarter to get more efficient.

 Most of us are working smarter because we’re lazy. We’re doing it to barely keep up with the demands of life because we waste idle time on social media, on video games, on television, drugs and other distractions. Many of which we enjoy, but some of which we do habitually and without any forethought.

 We’re not hacking our way to success, we’re taking every short cut, and efficiency booster to maintain a mediocre existence and letting opportunities slip through our fingers.

 WE WEREN’T TOLD THE THRUTH ABOUT HOW TO GET AHEAD

  A moment ago I told you we were going to come clean and admit what the only way to get ahead is, and the truth is there aren’t 2 ways to do it. There is only 1 – working HARDER while you work smarter.

  What most of us know but rarely admit to ourselves is that we aren’t lacking in talent, intelligence or energy to go out and achieve what we want. We’re lacking in one thing that’s holding us back:

 SELF DISCPLINE

 We’re missing the gear shifter that helps us control ourselves and put us into 5th gear where we move with purpose and deadly efficiency towards the things that matter most to us. The key that opens the lock to our massive energy reserves and most importantly the feeling of FULFILLMENT that we all crave.

 THERE IS AN OBVIOUS TURTH ABOUT SELF DISCIPLINE

   And that is that it hurts…

 And this scares us. This alone has been reason enough for a lot of us to grow up on the path of least resistance. The fact that developing self-discipline is painful is probably why you never valued it in the first place. After all there were TOO MANY AVAILABLE short cuts. There were too many instances where the downside to slacking, lying, cheating or just avoiding were minimal, and the up side of pain aversion were very real.

  But embedded in that truth about self-discipline is another lesser known truth. It’s one we don’t really believe until we’ve stepped up and experienced it for ourselves.

 And it’s the one thing that changes what everything means…

 Self Discipline feels painful to build, but it feels AMAZING to have.

 The presence, mental strength and groundedness that come with self-discpline are highs that few people get to bask in. The feeling of having had a “good” day. Going to bed a “good” tired.

 Not tired because you were stressed out all day thinking about the things you were suppose to do but didn’t. Not tired from doing nothing, and being wasteful of your energy. But tired from having pushed yourself to do what REALLY MATTERED and from having spent your energy on the things that provide direction and purpose to your life.

  ITS TIME TO BUILD DISCIPLINE
